Food was ok. Not all it's cracked up to be. $26 for two people to eat basically White castle burgers. Save ur money and go to White Castle.

It's a very good local downtown shop that shouldn't be that overrated if it is. To be honest, it's a very underrated burger joint that deserves much more attention, will be coming back!

Never been here before. Great little place for an awesome greasy snack. Almost like a cross between waffle house and white castle. Really good food and good times.

I have eaten here since I was a small kid. The atmosphere is wonderful and brings back memories. The burgers and fries are amazing. I would give it 5 stars if the price wasn’t a little steep.

This is a must stop in Madison. If the counter is open, watch them make your food. Great place after the bars close. The shakes are good too.

I love this place the first place I have to eat when I'm in town visiting family. But this morning the lady was so rude!! I simply went in to ask for salt the lady put her hand up cut me off and told me a invisible lady would help me all while rolling her eyes. I was very disappointed in my experience this morning.

My wife and I made our first trip to the iconic restraint on Saturday, July 25. The food was very good and the service was average, my problem was when I ask the waitress if I could change our order from singles to doubles she said sure, she then proceeded to tell the cook and it angered her, I guess, she slammed the first extra patty down on the grill, it was frozen and sounded like a hokey puck, then hastily placed the other three patties down and mumbled something under her mask. This cozy little place has a lot of history behind. It has been open since 1933 and serves up fresh and delicious sandwiches, breakfast food, and milkshakes. Everytime I am in the small town of Madison I always have to stop in a get a burger or two. They are open 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays!

Drove all the way here just to find out they are close yet the web says open for carry out only

I like the food, milkshakes, and the old town business. I don’t like how long they take but it’s worth the wait sometimes if your not in a hurry. Sometimes the staff is friendly but overall they are friendly. The food is a bit pricey but it’s really good and it’s to keep the business going.

Burgers were amazing wasnt expecting sliders but still really good the onion rings were some of the best I've ever had and they have some many different types of shakes the peanut butter was to die for.

There is a reason this place has been in business since 1933, Its awesome!

Went to Hinkle’s with our son and his family to try their historic cheeseburger. Sandwich was good, similar to a White Castle but with more bread. At a $1.69 a piece quite pricey!

Always great!! Love their grilled cheese and they will even put bacon and tomato on it. Every one that works there is fantastic!!!

Had two hamburgers which were I call a slider and fries meal was good sent summary of side that had stools up against the counter it was worth the visit

Awesome hometown diner. All the staff is awesome and the food is to die for. An absolute go to if you come to Madison or if you're from here. Such a wide selection of milkshake flavors as well. Homefries are amazing. Prices are decent.

Awesome burgers, even better shakes. Server was a ton of fun...not rigid with all the corporate interaction rulesets...very laid back atmosphere with real people making real food. If you havent been...definitely stop in. Its worth the time and money.

Where I use to live there was a burger joint, named Harold's, loved it.

Usually an awesome experience here. But today it was sub par. Burgers were overcooked and dry. Home fries tasted old and we're overcooked as well. Shakes didn't have much flavoring in them and we ordered a chili and we didn't even recieve. Server was nice and gave us a 10% discount for not getting us our chili. I hope you pull it together. If next visit is this bad, i may not come back for a long while.

First time eating here. Burgers are really good and my son really liked his hot ham and cheese. Kids also like the funnel fries (a spin on funnel cake). The folks working there were very friendly. Something to note, the burgers aren't really big. I got a triple and it was filling but a single would not have done it. They are closer to sliders in size. Maybe McDonald's cheeseburger size. Didn't affect the flavor though. I would definitely go back.

Hometown favorite best home fries with cheese and burgers

Had lunch here over fall break with the family. Food was fine, house fries on the menu were not fries, they were hash browns. Breaded tenderloin was good and atmosphere is a nice ‘old town’ style diner.

Hinkle's, oh how do I wish I lived closer to you. I only get to stop in when I am up that way on buisness but I always make a point to stop in and have a couple double cheeseburgers! This is truly old school lunchenette/diner food. And I mean that in the best way possible! Well made delicious food served without any frills. They let their food do all the talking for them. Do yourself a favor and stop in if your in the Madison,IN area. You won't regret it.

I guess the only problem I had was the menu which is online because of Covid-19. Which i didn't mind looking it up. But they didn't have wifi. My problem was on the menu I ordered a triple cheeseburger but instead I got a triple slidder. The menu didn't say anything about being a little slider. But food wise it was ok

You don't go to Hinkle's because you just simply want a home-cooked meal. They don't do just home-cooked meals. you go to Hinkle's because you want the conversation, because you want to hear it, even if you don't want to speak it. Because you want to be part of the world all filtered down and funneled into this beautiful little proverbial town. You want to hear and see and be part of history as it passes and comes back around. That's what Hinkle's does. It's a chance to have a little piece of history outspoken and on your plate.

Just as good as I remembered it growing up... Good 'ol greasy spoon with plenty of options. If you like some spice, ask for the beer mustard!

Because of Covid 19, we waited because we had heard the food is good. I am not complaining abt the food. However, listening to ppl who work here discuss LOUDLY the size clothes they wear and how much they weigh while I try to eat is not exactly my idea of a day out... and I am not even overweight! Ppl who work in public need to be more cognizant of the others around them and stop talking. Needless to say, I couldn’t eat after that for fear of being some terrible obese person they were referring to. Very disappointing!
